While working at Ralph Lauren from the winter through the end of summer of 07, I assisted in the research and development of fabrics for seasonal collections. From pattern and design layout, color selection and matching, also working with international mills (Italy, India, Hong Kong) to achieve new and cutting edge fabrics.

Assisting in daily lab dips of mills' dying processes, recording and maintaining receiving, quality reports, and critiques. I joined the design team in concept designs for 2008 collections, starting with design direction, fabric and color selection, sample making and showroom procedures.
Here are some examples of the work I did while at Ralph, working for both black and blue labels, allowed me to work with a variety of materials and customer profiles.

- Metalic Taffeta

"Woodland" is a mix of animal skins, window mess, jersey knit and heavy woolen yarns. The model is wearing an Ozwald Tailoring Co. waistcoat.
"Check it out" is a pattern piece, playing on the exposure and chaos of patterns, toying with bias cuts and placing one's lining on the sleeve.

In the fall of 2005 I joined 12 other artists in a gallery in Soho, at Location One Gallery. The 13 of us where locked in the gallery space for one week and where asked to create wearable art out of a restricted set of materials. Using animal hides, window screening, rubber parts and steel cuttings we constructed and collaborated on numerous projects. The experience was a unreal, being given a vast variety of materials and people to work with on whatever artistic concepts we sought out.

The first piece shown is called "Buttons" working with an elegant wool gauze and horn buttons with steel woven thread to create this organic and modern shape.
The Next piece, "I Patch" is one continuous piece of patch work fabric used to create a striking shape with a broad and upright collar. With a mix of hardware, buttons, and trims framing the patches.
"Strung Up" during the final hours of the performance piece I conceptualized a final garment. One expressing the drama and emotion that can be drawn from clothing, through using volume, familiar fabric patterns, and silhouette.
